A Man's Home

I have been doing a lot of home decorating lately. We have lived in this house for a year and a half now and I really had not had time with everything going on to make it ours. I have realized lately that when I say ours - I mean mine. I know that I am not alone in this. As I decorate each room, I have slowly pushed my husband and his "ugly" things out of the rooms and into dark corners. The Lord began to quietly convict me. Who was I decorating the house for? My family, or people who came over? Who was I trying to impress? My husband, or insurance salesmen? And then the nasty word PRIDE crept in. So, for now the deer mounts remain in the living room. I hate them but my husband loves them. They represent his loves in life, and because this is his home, they remain. I suppose he is lucky that I do not display Hershey candy bars in every room.

On that note I have found a new love of refinishing furniture, giving new life to ugly useless pieces. I found a very ugly small stool at a antique store. It had dark brown legs and brownish yellow (think pee) vinyl covering. As I am new to blogging I didn't take a before picture! Gasp! I will do better next time. However, here is the finished product. I love it!

I simply removed the ugly cover by prying off the upholstry tacks. I painted the legs black with spray paint. After that dried, I recovered the batting with my new material and retacked. Easy, the whole project including shopping took about an hour and a half.

Love that little stool! What a great job. I have one that I bought at a yardsale...you've inspired me to pull it out of the shed and get busy making it pretty!

Wasn't that awesome...for the razor. I was a slacker this week and didn't go to Walgreens. A friend said she got one for me though! :D I'm ready to shave my hairy winter legs...UGH! Gross...I know!

Hi there! I just wanted to come by and thank you for becoming a follower on my blog. I'll look forward to getting to know you better!

I know what you mean about man vs. decorating. :) I always ask my husband for his opinions and he rarely has them. I do know, however, that if I tried to paint a room pink he would put his foot down. lol!
